Title: the "UGLY DUCKLING"
Post by: surferboy on January 20, 2012, 01:05:21 AM
Cathys "Ugly duckling" FE sedan will be on the market when the Nats are finished and we get home from the honeymoon

It's RUSTY
it has a bit of a dent in rear left corner from when I reversed into the neighbours car
I've pinched bits for the wagon rebuild and some bits are just missing (eg the rear fins and door panels and the boot lock)
some bits don't work (eg the wipers and speedo and drivers window winder and temp gauge and the horn and sometimes the indicators)
the 4 speed manual box makes some funny noises when reversing
whats left of the roof lining is mouldy
the drivers seat sags a bit
the exhaust is starting to get a bit noisier
the rear wheel (14" volvo rims) nuts don't fit the studs properly (short EH studs ?)
the passenger side seatbelt only fits skinny people

the 179 motor runs good and I drive it daily for work and stuff and even with the rust it's still COOL driving it

Check it out at the Nationals
and make me an offer I can't refuse

Option B     It goes into the shed until the grandkids are old enough to rebuild it

Considering the fact that you have done such a brilliant job selling this beloved Fe I have to ask a burning question ....... Have you ever thought if becoming a car salesman  :D :D :D

If it ends up in the shed I still have 10-12 years to influence the Grandkids on what is cool (like FCs) and whats not (like riceburners) before they get their drivers licences. I figure if one of the kids rebuild it they can have it for an 18th birthday present  ;D
I will not sell the car to just anybody and walk away with lots of cash in my pocket. I would rather give it away (almost) to somebody I trust will do it justice and rebuild it properly.
Thats why I would rather they know ALL the things that are wrong before they buy it.
Could always whack it on ebay for $8000 as a "project" car in excellent condition with minor rust in some panels with RARE Nasco accesories        ...... but I wont.

Will post pics of some more of the UGLY bits later
