Title: Radio Identification
Post by: FC0058 on April 12, 2003, 07:12:37 AM
Hi All

As you all know I am new to this game!!. I have just finished checking my dash wiring and have removed the old Valve radio and speaker.

I removed it because all the wires were cut and nothing connected and It is in dire need of some restoration work. But before I decide to ditch or restore I need to know what it is. The only marking I can find is a small Australia shape emblem with the letters BMC in the middle. It is a two piece radio + speaker.

Please tell me what it is and is it worth restoring.

Cheers Jim.

PS I can take photo's if required.

BMC surely stands for British Motor Corporation doesn't it.

Thanks for that Ken

I had NFI. So is it worth having restored. Was it a feature in the cars back in the 50's, or is it a piece of crap that I should ditch and replace with an Air Cheif.

although it might not suit your car why not get a few photo's of it and post on ebay as it might be worth a few dollars towards your air chief and help in someone elses restoration

Very good idea Nicko. I have the work digital camera with me so will take a few pic's tomorrow and place it on ebay. Who knows what it might be worth to a collector or car restorer.

Thanks.

Hi Nicko,
If you're interested, I have an FE/FC ?? Air Chief radio that I was thinking of selling. I'm not sure if it works, but I can bring it to the nationals with me if you want to have a look?

Cheers,

Jim, can you take a photo of the dial face as I have some new faces in a packet that look a similar size. They have a face for each state.I know they are from a Holden but dont know which model.

I have not got the camera at home but will bring it home tomorrow. I have cut the facia out of original pic so if it looks like crap I will repost tomorrow night.
