Title: wheels for fc with Commodore stud pattern Post by: FC 304 wannabe on November 02, 2011, 12:10:22 AM hi all,
I was interested to here any thoughts on what wheels I can use on my fc that is now running a Commodore stud pattern. I would prefer 17s if I can make them work. hq stud pattern close enough??? thanks. Title: Re: wheels for fc with Commodore stud pattern Post by: Harv on November 02, 2011, 05:59:06 AM FC304,
HQ and Commodore are different. Whilst you can interchange them and get away with it, it puts a hell of a load on the wheel studs. There is a real risk of snapping wheel studs under load... I'd strongly reccomend not to interchange the two. If you want to use HQ rims, have the rotors offset drilled and use oversized studs. Wheel choice with Commodore stud pattern is often limited by fouling (tie-rod ends, grease nipples or inner guards) - I assume here that you are running a HR front end. Be aware that Commodore offset varies significantly - 26 to 43mm is common. This thread gives some info on offsets: http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=2849 , whilst this thread gives some info on legality (NSW RTA regs): http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=14204 Cheers, Harv. looks like I will not get an easy fix for the problem. for now the car will remain on my old 15 inch vp Calais mags while I'm still building. They seem to fit ok.... Although in saying they clear i had to change upper balljoints to a different brand as some have a tall grease pot on top and they foul on the wheel weights.
