Title: "Jim" is for Sale - Buy it, Drive it to the Perth Nats
Post by: Martin on October 25, 2011, 11:18:06 AM
It is with some sadness that I offer my "Jim" for sale.

Delivered new in May, 1959, it's Skyline blue with Fountain blue flash and boot. The paint and the interior are in amazingly very good original condition. Sure, the paint shows some marks for its 52 year age - but don't we all?

Current Odometer: 91, 600 miles, which I believe is genuine.

The only rust in the car that I am aware of is a small bubble in each of the headlight peaks.  New repair sections go with the car.  The peaks were previously repaired on 29 July 1986.

I have fitted many genuine accessories, including Wilsonia gauges, push button radio, Smiths heater/demister, door grab handles, Ryco oil filter (fitted, but not "plumbed in"), alloy rocker cover, bonnet ornament, grill badge (stick-on repro badge), mud flaps, reversing lights, rear window venetians. It also has retractable seat belts on outer-front seat positions, 2 speed electric wipers, tow bar, near new wheel trims (overall condition > 90/100).

The car sells with several parts, including mudguard peak repair sections, 2 piece sunvisor (not painted), wheel spats (not painted), original vacuum wiper motor, original fuel pump, original painted rocker cover.

The CD player mentioned in the “Members Cars” item is no longer in the glove box.  It is in a removable module (with speakers and gell-cell battery for memory back-up).  It is available at extra cost.

I have put in a separate "accessories" circuit with fuses for the heater, wipers, radio and CD player.

It also comes with (transferrable) class-specific rights to the white-on-black SA registration plates which is the original rego number for the car. Jim is currently on SA Historic registration (non-transferrable), but I will fully register it for 3 months prior to sale.

You can read the full story on the car here: http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,15487.0.html ($2)

If you are a genuinely interested buyer, PM or email me for information and more photos. After you see the car and hear about its history and what comes with it, we'll talk money. Jim lives in Adelaide

This notice will remain here for a few of weeks and if not sold it will then be advertised publicly.

Why am I selling? My first car was a 1948 Austin 16. I've wanted one back in my garage for 20 years and I've finally got one. One of them has to go. Here's the Austin:

Yes, Pete.  That's been said to me before.  And while I love the FC and it's really smooth to drive, there's a lot of nostalgia connected with the Austin.  And then there's "She Who Must be Obeyed" who doesn't want to lose most of the back yard to parking.

I thought I had it sold - but Murphy's Law has prevailed and the sale fell through.   >:( >:(

Jim's now back on the market.

Hi Leviakl

Refer to my post of 25th October - but I will tell you that if you don't live in SA you'll need more than $15,000 to get it home.
