Title: 138 grey engine motor running problem Post by: fe on September 18, 2011, 09:55:53 AM I have a Fe with a 138 ,I went for a drive yesterday and when I accelerate heavily the motor backfires [farts]

Pull the aircleaner (engine off), get a friend to pump the accelerator a few times while you look down the carby throat - you should see fuel squirting if the pump is working (or as Bill Cosby put it "gas shooting over your left shoulder" ;D. As well as the previous posts check that there is no air leak at the carburettor which is usually caused by the carburettor and base becoming loose, they are both held together by two large screws which are accessible for tightening once the air cleaner is removed.
