Title: Light switch
Post by: moetstockie on September 08, 2011, 09:39:39 PM
FE; Most of my lights are now working (thanks GAZ) with the exception of the illuminating lights in the instrument panel. Indicator arrows are good as is the high beam red light.   Motor started on w-end for the first time. Sticky dissy points after a complete rebuild from a reputable rebuilder  ???  ...that took my mate a bit to sort (thanks Ray).   However the switch that is in the instrument panel is 'not good' my learned friend says. Are these available ?  Your comments please.   Cheers Moe`t

If it's anything like the FB/EK light switch, it has a coiled spring rheostat (variable resister) that is used to dim the instrument lights. The coiled spring gets rusty over time, and the lights don't come on. Turn your headlights on, then turn the switch backwards and forwards until you find the sweet spot that the lights work.

Cheers,
Harv.

Martin from SA wrote a very good article on this topic a few years back, that we published in the NSW Club newsletter, Sideplate.

Here it is in PDF format ($2).

;D  Wow you guys are a great bunch...The FE would not be going if it wasn't for my wonderful friends and the crazy enthusiasts on this forum. I'll get a few pics up of the start, middle and finale as soon as I learn how to get my pics on the forum. Cheers Moe`t
