this is us getting car in the shed to remove old floor pans and weld off the new ones
as there is already new ones in place then remove a extented chassis.
So lots of cutting ahead, so i deciced to put it up on its side to get to both
sides easy when cutting.
so after all welding is done its down to the sand blaster to get into those hard to get spots.

Hi KB
Welcome to the forum
Looks in pretty good shape, what are your plans for it???By the looks of it I don't think that your going to keep it original.
Keep the pictures coming

Hi KB

That floor does look OK. What are you going to do as far as mods, or keeping it original?

Hopfully you can get it back on the road sooner rather than latter.

I will keep more photo's coming at the moment it's still in same spot, but put new from chassis cross member in over the weekend so it is moving along well just have finish welding off and then sika flex some
Holden factory falts were water and grim sits then under body spray her then back on all four... But one thing I'm not sure with is I'm about to start work on sub frame but not sure if engine bay is black or car body colour when it came of the show room floor.... So yes it's going back to it's forma glory stock as standard...
Cheers KB

If you post the ID plate details I can tell you what year the car is and what colour the firewall and skirts should be.

hi ken or anyone else
if anyone can tell what colour subframe is and fire wall is that would be great
any other info about the car would be great as well eg: year ,where it was built, colours and interior colour
as these are just a whole lot of numbers to me except where it says FE
cheers kb

Congratulations KB, you too are the proud owner of a Teal blue over Breton blue  FE special,
with Summit blue and Cosmos grey interior.  :)
I thought those numbers looked familiar.

kb, the body number dates the car to either very late December 1956 or very early January 1957. The chassis number would confirm build date. Chassis number would be about 11000M or 4000A and will start with  a 6 or a 7.
Cars of this era had a coloured firewall with black inner skirts. Later in 1957 the FE's were changed to have the entire engine bay in body colour.
So for your car I would go the the same as Stewy, body colour firewall and black subframe - I think the subframe was painted separately before it was attached to the car at the start of production, but later on they changed the production to assemble the subframe to the car then paint in and the firewall together.

Ken,

Just saw this post. With Adelaide bodies I'm not sure that that body coloured skirts is correct given they were also shipped to Brisbane and Perth for assembly. My research indicates that Adelaide bodies had body coloured firewalls and black skirts right up to 2nd quarter/mid 59 when there was a universal change to all black engine bays.

Appreciate your thoughts

Cheers
John
