Title: front seal
Post by: freddyc on May 12, 2011, 05:14:16 PM
I think the front crank seal is leaking, large amount of oil sprayed around engine bay from harmonic balancer etc. What seals/ gaskets will I need to rectify this

Harmonic balancer seal and a timing cover gasket. You will also need to get your balancer recoed - there is a very thin sleeve which can be fitted which I have used and found to be OK as well.

Tools needed - a balancer remover and reinstaller. Helpful if you have a guide to centre the timing cover but you can get away without one by doing the procedure below.

To line up the timing cover you will need to part way install the balancer while the bolts are loose and then tighten the bolts once the balancer has centred the timing cover.
