Looks like a great car.
The only problem with buying a car in New Zealand is the drive home is long and tedious.  ;D

And wet!!

About $6k to get a vehicle here from NZ. This is the figure I have heard from guys who have bought XU1's back across.

Nice car and good luck with the sale.

$6K? Are you sure? I bought 2 cars over to Ireland in a 40 foot container for less than that 2 years ago or so. Or are the Kiwis saying "Look, here comes another one!"?

It was around $6000 to get the ambulance from New Zealand to Australia in a 20 foot container. That was getting the contractor to load it in New Zealand and it to be unloaded in Australia. I had quotes from two different companies and they were about the same price.
It seems ridiculous as its only around $3500 for a car from the States. Cheers

I think I see there must be no competition or price fixing  :-\

My price was less than 5k and that included full loading in Melb and customs etc. both ends of the trip. I unloaded them myself and that is part of the fun - slip the guy a 50 and he drops the container next to the carpark instead of in the clearance area (assuming you have cleared it first of course) and drive em home!!  ;D

A recent post on the OzRodders site suggests that the total cost of shipping a car from New Zealand to Melbourne should be close to $4000.

Here's a breakdown - the car is question is a stock 1938 Willys sedan.

Quote
Container loading and shipping from Tauranga NZ to Melbourne was $1,503.63 Aus.
From the Ship till i picked the Willys up through Specific Freight Shipping at there depot at Pestex in West Melbourne was $2,415.84 Aus PLUS the Customs Duty which depends on the price of the car.
Total cost was $3969.47 plus Customs Duty.
The price was more than i was quoted but at least i have the Willys here.
My Willys is a stocker so there was no issues with getting it passed through Customs
I hope this helps if you are thinking of importing a car from NZ.

$1500 sounds better. Of course the taxes are another thing and surely every car people buy to import from NZ is only worth $500 for tax purposes when they bought it?  ;)

Has anyone found out how much the guy is asking for the FC?

A slight error in the original post.
The email address above for Kerry is incorrect.
It should be kerry@kbassetsolutions.co.nz

Also, if anyone is keen, he can work out a best shipping rate through his shipping agent in NZ

Hope this helps,
Paul

Hi All

Just had a reply from Kerry and the asking price is $30,000 NZ with an estimated $2800 +gst for shipping to Aus.
Way out of my price range.

Cheers
