Rat,

It may be a replacement body.

G,day Rat

That is the part number for a replacement ute body for FE & FC
The 63 may be the year it was replaced

Yes a replacement body shell - the 63rd manufactured - they are quite rare although I have records of maybe 10 or so in various different body types - One of Rabbitoh's cars is a new body shell.

This is why the car has such an unusual blue colour which attracted my attention in the first place. Because it is not a genuine colour. Hard to say when the body was replaced but the low number would indicate fairly early - probably late 50's

the old guy said there where a few new fe & fc on the train to sa when it derailed back in the 50s and damaged the lot and he bought this one that only had a bit of damade and had been sitting out the back of the police station for a few years after the crash this one needed a door and guard its a great old ute

I was aware that replacement bodies were available, but Ken mentions that this was the 63rd body. Is that the 63rd ute body or the 63rd body irregardless of type?

63rd body of that part number - 7406179 is the part number for a ute - so it is the 63rd ute shell made to sell as a spare part.

There was an FE sedan (red over white) from Victoria at the Phillip Island Nats that had a part number ID plate.
