Title: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Paid Post by: 4hammers on March 18, 2003, 10:38:13 AM Hi.
I am searching for an Alloy Sideplate for a Grey motor. I would prefer the original “COOPER” finned sideplate, but a J.W.L would also be VERY cool. I am willing to pay well for this item, or have some very cool items to trade. If you have one & have been thinking about selling, or would like some cash, give me an email at: r2t2@bigpond.com.au I will pay well for this item, so don’t be shy. Thanks, Rob Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: fc_ute on March 25, 2003, 01:49:35 PM just out of interest have you found one yet?

Not as yet, but I am a patient man & usually track down what I need. I did get onto one (or so I thought), but when I got there, it was just one of a Red motor (Not even the pair, Bummer!!). Regards, Rob Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: fc_ute on March 26, 2003, 02:40:33 PM i remember seeing one on an fj over here in WA about 20 years ago but havent seen one since.

I have a photo of an J.W.L Finned sideplate thay I will scan off. But, because I am a "Computer Dumb-arse", I will need someone to post it. Should be up in a day or two. Regards, Rob (p.s. J.W.L stands for "John William Loxton".) Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: FE_225 on March 27, 2003, 02:35:43 AM Here's Robs pic.

Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: Effie C on March 28, 2003, 10:25:25 AM G'Day Rob
Now I have seen picture if I find two of them :oI will sell you the second One ::) But then again I would have to find three because I sure Chris B is after one as well, and as he lives across town from me and would find it easier to run me over he would have to get second one. ;D John M Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: 4hammers on March 28, 2003, 07:14:27 PM Hi John.
I know exactly what you mean. If I find 2, I have about 20 people who are after the second one :-/. But, it has to go to a mate who has given me stacks of advice & pointers while doing up my cars. Tony C gets number 2 when it shows up ;D. Otherwise, I reckon he will curse me. He is on the lookout as well, so I know he will look after me as well. Tony posted the photo for me. Regards, Rob Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: ChrisB on March 29, 2003, 09:16:50 AM Hi Guys,
This side plate seems to be a very popular item, just suits the period mods I am after. Saw a nice one on an FJ at the summernats, but it was not like the one in this post. Way to go, Tony. When you get it onto the motor with the Norman, send me a photo if you could. I reckon it is gonna look kick arse!! Rob J Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: Fast_Eddie on March 04, 2004, 12:45:24 AM Tony,
What a great find! When you have finished building your hot grey motor, with the high compression shaved head and deck, and you find that none of the holes line up in the alloy side plate, I'll be more than happy to buy it from you for my standard deck height, standard head motor ;) Regards Edward Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: Spinner on March 04, 2004, 12:04:55 PM Tony,
On a different note to Fast Eddie, I'll be in for one maybe two if any replicas are cast up. If you haven't found a suitable foundry yet, go to Kingston & ask the blokes at the railway museum who they use to make replica builders plates & numbers. Cheers Spinner Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: normd on March 04, 2004, 01:11:50 PM Hey Rob
Wait till Tony has the engine built ,"Norman" on , then send ya the "whole motor" ;D not just a photo Norm :) Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: 4hammers on March 04, 2004, 09:44:06 PM Hi.
Yes!! Good idea, Norm. Postage would be a killer, but hey, wouldn't it be cool???? Rob J Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Pai Post by: FE_225 on March 05, 2004, 12:58:13 PM Great idea Spinner, will look into that. Also found a guy in Belconnen that does alloy casting, so that may also be a goer.
Good one Norm, as if ;D Rob, will try and get some pix on the weekend. The old grey looks cool with the sideplate, alloy timing case and JWL rocker cover, oh yeah, scored a few other bits too :) Looks even better when the blower is on. Cheers Tony Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Paid Post by: GreyFC on February 25, 2016, 07:44:00 AM They are out there.
(http://gallery.thegreymotor.com/albums/userpics/10001/normal_4e76bc60-87dd-4eb3-8afc-47f00e589696.jpg) There are also the Aussie speed ones, they are good quality and are the same apart from the JWL Equipment. Although the JWL are highly sought after and can take years to track down ( trust me ) Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Paid Post by: zulu on February 25, 2016, 10:50:51 AM I have one of these, it has no brand markings from memory I bought mine long before the Aussie Speed version and it's not a JWL either although I do have 1 of those also, I did have it on the spinner but I recall it leaked, so I replaced it with an original cover Here is a pic when it was on the Spinner (http://s16.postimg.org/we3ac07rl/sideplate08nats_Alex.jpg) ($2) Title: Re: Alloy Side-plate for Grey Motor Wanted $$$ Paid Post by: GreyFC on February 25, 2016, 01:37:39 PM That is very nice side plate. If you have the time are you able to take some more photos for me. I have a post over at the FX forum gathering what info I can.
