It would lift the left hand front wheel about 2 foot of the ground when it launched,i seen it out at Castlereagh drags a few times

I was born in 1969 Alex, so I wasn't too handy with a camera at that stage. They are great pictures. I saw the others you posted on 'Illusion' too Alex. Great information.
The number plate on the FE is a German temporary plate. The owner of the car must have got one and decided he would make his car look a bit more exotic. Wouldn't have been legal on the road in Australia, but then again, I doubt those rear tyres saw much highway use. What an awesome photo! It shows how much get up and went that ute had! If you look at the rear wheels they have a good contact area at the bottom of the tyre. The front tyres have nearly no contact flex, indicating nearly all the weight of the car is over the driving wheels. Excellent stuff! I remember seeing this car race at the Canberra Strip around 1984-85. I used to have photo's of it, but am unable to find them. It will be good to see it up and racing again one day.
