Title: Removing Badge
Post by: KFH on February 28, 2011, 10:23:15 PM
I want to remove the "Special" badge on the glove box lid.  Is the method used the same as removing the Holden letters on the bonnet.  I just want to make sure in case there is an easier method.

Thanks

Keith

Keith,

To remove the Special badge, gently pry it off with a screwdriver, it is held on with three pins. Work you way a little at at time, back and forth until it comes free.

To ensure that you don't scratch the glovebox lid, wrap a rag around the screwdriver tip, to ensure that it doesn't scratch the paint.

A paint scraper and brown or newspaper will do the trick also. The paint scaper once started gives more area to spread the load and lessen the chance of damaging the die cast.

All good with successfully removing the badge.  The putty knife did the trick.  In my case I wasn't worried about the paint as I have now sand blasted the lid for repainting.

I used a putty knife , wrapped the knife with masking tape to avoid scratching, prying up every few centimetres and worked my way along.... pops out quite easily .
