Title: Removing ID Plate
Post by: Old_Mt_Isa_Boy on February 26, 2011, 01:03:10 PM
I am getting the FC blasted and primed. To avoid damage do I remove the ID Plate from firewall before blasting and if yes I am assuming a simple removal of both rivets.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Wayne

Wayne,

Yes you would need to remove the ID plate, Ken (mcl1959) may be of help here, IIRC at one stage he had genuine replacement rivets for sale

Wayne, after you have removed the sound deadener from the inside, carefully squeeze the back of the rivet together and it should then tap out - you reinstall by pushing the rivet back into place and then selecting a punch the exact size of the hole in the centre of the rivet and gently tapping inwards to spread the back out again.
