Title: Vent Cowel removal
Post by: Old_Mt_Isa_Boy on February 12, 2011, 06:41:52 PM
Is there a trick to removing the cowel?  ??? Does the link shaft have to be removed? Just seems a bit awkward and do not want to break. A reference to a page in the manual would be fine, i cannot see it in there.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Hi Wayne,
Yes i have always removed the link shaft first then the 4 screws, and then lift it out. I don't know of any other way, it is a close fit.
Cheers,
Graham

Hi Wayne,
I did mine on the donor FC wagon this afternoon. It is on page 27 of the workshop manual under Front End Ventilator
A bit of wd 40 spray on the nuts high up under the dash and on the control handle thread. then unscrew anticlockwise,
i put a small scdewdriver through the hole to unwind it because it was tight all the way down the thread.
then undo the 4 nuts and bolts ( 2 each side) then lift out.
hope this makes sense
