Title: dealer id badges Post by: fc_ute on March 06, 2003, 12:30:28 PM here in WA our 2 biggest holden dealers used to put badges onto the cars that they sold. sydney atkinsons started with the fx, then fj and then one for fe/c. these ones were metal and screwed to the dash each one was different. after the screw on ones they went to a thin metal sticker that was the same for all models.
city motors started a bit later, about fc i think and theres was a very thin metal sticker which had the lion logo on it (for fc the logo was fc badge shaped)and went up to hj as the badge changed shape. i only have a fc and a hj one of these and have not seen any others so i am not sure if they did different models. i also have one for shck motors which is very similar to the first sydney ats one. did eastern state yards have dealer badges or stickers that had the holden logo on them (not back window stickers) i can take photos of the ones i have but i dont know how to post them craig Title: Re: dealer id badges Post by: Ed on March 07, 2003, 12:50:30 AM I have a nice little sundell motors badge from Sydney.
luckily the dealership was established in 1957, so it will look ok on my car... Im not sure where it goes.. perhaps glovebox lid? no holden lion though.. Campells motors had a metal badge which just said "CAMPBELLS".
Also Stacks motors in NSW had a nice badge which was screwed to the bootlid. The transfers were very fancy with lion emblems and fancy lettering and lots of colours. I remember having an FE wagon from Queens Bridge Motors with a decal on the glovebox lid in top condition. It also had a number plate frame with "QBM" on it. Which reminds me of Rhodes motors which had a cast aluminium number plate frame with "RHODES" cast into it. Very neat. Talking about City Motors in Perth though - I saw an FC with "CITY MOTORS" sprayed on the inside of the bonnet with a big stencil. Wish I had taken a photo of it. city motors used to spray that stencil on all the cars they sold Title: Re: dealer id badges Post by: customFC on March 07, 2003, 10:34:34 PM Hey Craig.
Thanks for the interesting info. If you want to get the pics up, just make them smaller than 64k and add them as a attachment. You will see a box below where you type. Alternatively, email them to me custom@idx.com.au and I will post them. I would love to see what they look like. My FC was sold new from Sundell Motors, and has (had) a stencil on the underside of the bonnet with name address and phone #. ED....if you ever want to part with that badge, i'm your man. Nice piece. Regards Alex Title: Re: dealer id badges Post by: 4hammers on March 08, 2003, 02:07:14 AM Down here is TAS, we usually had the water tranfers in the south (Motor's, Hobart) & a foil sticker up North (Launceston). They were stuck right in the middle of the glove box on all FE's, FC's, FB's & EK's. I have 2 NOS Hobart Motors ones (if anyone wants a scan, just let me know), but am yet to find a NOS foil sticker.
We have an FC sedan that was from a dealer in "Walla Walla, NSW. It is a little polished metal badge, that fits in the gap above the speaaker grille & under the dash. Again, can get details if you are keen. Also, there is an FE wagon (With a "Dart" flash kit) in our club, which is from "City Motor's, in Perth. That has the transfer under the bonnet (Like Ken saw). Interesting. Rob Title: Re: dealer id badges Post by: peterwmh on March 08, 2003, 02:24:59 AM Walla Walla hey, that's near where I live, would have to be Lieshke Motors hey?? He's a funny guy, all his trade in just get stored behind his dealershipo, there must be 150-200 cars scattered about the town. They never move, just keep collecting dust. I have no idea why he keeps them, very strange
Title: Re: dealer id badges Post by: 4hammers on March 08, 2003, 03:03:07 AM Yes.
Lieshke Motors is the place. 150 - 200 cars behind his dealership???? Any old Holdens? Mate, I might just have to visit Walla Walla soon!
