Title: Tasmans for sale
Post by: FE_225 on March 01, 2003, 11:50:57 AM
Hi
I've got 3 x 14" Tasmans in VGC that I don't need. Problem is, they are Ford stud pattern . Any body out there with Tasmans on their car want a matching set for a trailer?
$90.00
Let me know if interested.
Cheers
Tony

Tony, I know of a workshop who can change the stud pattern if you want to use them yourself.
What condition are the caps, "if any"??

Hi kma
I've already got a set for my FE.
I was going to use them on a trailer myself but have since bought a ute, so I have no use for them. Anybody want to swap an fe/c ute or wagon for a wb ute  ;D
Sorry. no centre caps.

Tony

Hi Andrew
Kevin said they can be changed to Holden pattern. Don't think it would be too hard.
Anyway, I've still got 'em. Send me a pm or email if your still interested.
Cheers
Tony

Hey guys,

One problem with changing from ford stud pattern to holden is that ford use 1/2" studs and Holden use 7/16 studs  :-/.

plus im guessing that there falcon, & there pitch circle is alot larger than early holden

Not long ago I had a similar offer 14 inch tasmans that suited Ford ,The seller then told me that he can have them welded up and redrilled in the better stud pattern which I wouldnt trust myself because the centres are cast and the weld wont be which will alter the molecular structure thus causing a weak spot in my own opinion, $25 a wheel was quoted , Do yourself a favour and have a chat to the local machinist/Engineer

Your spot on Harko.
I spoke to a wheel joint about welding up mags, and they said DON'T DO IT! The welding buggers up the alloy casting and they can break. They said it's safer to drive around with cracked mags than welded ones. Personally, I wouldn't have the Tasmans welded and redrilled, it would be asking for trouble.

Kevin: Can you shed any light on how the guys down your way change the stud pattern on mags???

Cheers
