Title: Triple SUs on FC?
Post by: R Verner on August 01, 2000, 12:00:00 PM
Have just fitted 202 into my FC and my problem is that the triple SUs that i bought with the motor wont fit,the last carbie is hard against the firewall. I am wondering if anybody has found a mainifold that is more offset to the front of the engine to give clearance i have a cain mainifold, this is offset about 20mm forward (centre of rear intake port to centre of 3rd carb)i would need approx 40mm offset. I can not shift the engine any further forward as i am already at minimum radiator clearance, have considered cutting a recess into fire wall but only wont to do this as a last resort. Have also considered going to a 4 barrel but am concerned with performance, everone has thier own views with triples vs 4barrel. Any help or good suggestions muchly appreciated. Regards  Richard.

As for actually fitting triples, I would suggest digging out some old "Street Machine" mags to see how others have done this. On the other hand I have a 202/Trimatic that runs a Holley 450 Vac, best time at the drags in an LJ Torana 14.2secs. It is a strong motor and from what I have heard any sacrifice in power I have made up for with reliability.

i run triple SUs in my FC, hanging off a 179 mildly worked. i also searched for the type of manifold you are after with no success. as i wanted to run the triples a modification to the firewall was the only way to go. the engineer passed the setback fire wall.
