Title: re trim Viscount blue Post by: Sunday special on September 08, 2010, 10:18:19 AM Hello again forum,
Starting to gather momentum for the resto work for my FC special . Im torn on the interior ,code 630 (Viscount blue/black) at the moment ....torn being the word to describe my front bench seat... Rear seat and door trims are o.k just need some intense cleaning...an arm rest needs repair. Having trouble sourcing Viscount blue vinyl to repair it and keep it original, I have the option to re trim in a slightly different colour but finding that to keep the same stitching and weld lines in the door trims is ridiculously expensive!!! up wards or $3000 and thats not including the roof lining. Im in VIC but has anyone have any ideas on where i may source or anyone have donor Viscount blue front or rear seat they are willing to sell? Cheers, Title: Re: re trim Viscount blue Post by: Maco on September 08, 2010, 01:02:14 PM You can paint them with the correct paint, I believe. Cheers John Title: Re: re trim Viscount blue Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on September 08, 2010, 01:27:24 PM I have a Blue/Black FC seat in the shed, the stitching is coming apart all over the place including the pleats, but if it helps I can strip the covers off and send it over :-\ The rear seats were part of what looks like a failed vinyl painting experiment though.
No matter what you do with the old seats the stitching will always be an issue due to age, sooner or later it will deteriorate. Getting a modern vinyl equivalent is possible but it will never be a 100% match. If you are handy, I have been selling seat cover sets and door trims with the correct vinyl welded patterns and it will cost a lot less than $3000.
