I talked with a guy yesterday who some of you know, John Carr. He restores old car radios, does repro facia's for Air Cheif, etc. We are investigating having a mould made that would repro the facia that cradles a radio below the speaker grill in a FE/FC. It would be modified to house a standard "modern day" CD/Radio, a standard size rectangular cut out that you can house a metal bracket which you can then slide in and lock into place a stereo unit Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, whatever. Depending on the number of takers the price could be anywhere from no so cheap to somewhat expensive, but it would be a very high quality job as John has a good reputation, and feedback on hid Air Cheif facias has been very positive. Like I say, price depends on number of takers, but if we can get a commit for 20-30 I would say we could keep it down around the $100 mark or so. I want 2, so how many more would be interested? we're not sure yet how much of the current mould can be modified/utilised to adapt. the original mould cost $600 to make some years ago, so thats why the cost will be lower the more we can order.
