Title: Door Rubbers
Post by: griffo on February 18, 2003, 12:42:58 AM
Could someone tell me where to get the best fitting door rubbers from?  in or around Melb.  Also what to use to " clean up " some old ones .

thanx, Griffo.

Rares Spares and Spectrum sell the same rubbers, not sure about Bill Thompson. Clark Rubber also sell various profiles so you could make your own or patch the originals.

From what I hear (and am just about to find out!!) none of them fit properly, due to the fact that all replacement rubbers sold now are made from extruded rubber, not like the original rubbers which had moulded corners. Best advice I heard (from the Guru) was to cut the moulded areas out of your originals and use them as part of the replacements.

I have used Wax and Grease remover (Prepsol) to clean rubbers followed by some Mother's "Back to Black" and they come up a treat.

Do a search on the forum for "rubber", there's already been a bit of discussion on this topic.

Cheers,

Craig.
