Title: fc wagon side glass Post by: GMHwagoon on June 20, 2010, 03:26:03 PM have just inspected the rubber on the side rear windows of my wagon and come to the conclusion that they need replacing
one because they are pretty dry and have cracks opening up letting water in which l think is then causing some rust in the dog leg of the wheel arch can anyone tell me of a decent side glass rubber supplier .and what is the likleyhood of the glass breaking taking it out does anybody supply side glass for these anymore thanks greg Title: Re: fc wagon side glass Post by: FCRB26 on June 20, 2010, 07:42:16 PM use a good stanley knife or anything to break the outer lip of the rubber do anything to save the glass get a helper and gently push it out dont pry at it i use my shoulder or a rolled up blanket.
When its out just a quick tip use that CLR clear stuff to get the old crudd off the window limescale i think they call it makes the glass look very dirty around the edges you have not many options with the rubbers just use rare spares ones. To install, place the seal on the window, cord in the seal groove, hold it into the opening, pushing in while pulling the cord to lift the seal over the edge. you are more likely to break a window on installation than removal. going slow and careful will have to be the go thanks again Title: Re: fc wagon side glass Post by: mcl1959 on June 22, 2010, 09:05:24 PM I also cut the rubber and push the glass in to remove. Then install in the reverse way - Have a helper inside hold the pointed end of the glass in place in the opening and you work towards the curved end with the pull rope. The helper is pushing outwards from inside as you pull the rope. You shouldn't break the glass unless really over the top force is used.
