Post by: graham_fuller on May 30, 2010, 09:48:48 PM
Guys are any of these compressors adequate for spraying a car? In the handyman range. Any advice would be appreciated.

NAC 16XRS looks OK ,don't buy a 12CFM for a little extra $$$ you get a compressor that can do the job with out running out of air , are we still going to have a paint day ??? ??? Graham ......FC427.....

Graham 12.5 CFM is a bit to small I would go with the 16CFM but the NAC 14 HD will be OK ....FC427....

Graham,

I use a 12cfm with, and I've done half a dozen cars with it and it does the job. It doesn't run out of puff, it just needs to pump alot harder to maintain flow.

As Mark says higher flow is better however,  if you are not going to use it that frequently you may want to also consider the motor load rating.

The reason I use a 12 is that any higher and you most likely need to go to a 15A rated circuit.  I couldn't do this at the time of purchase so I stuck with the 10A rated motor which I can use at any household powerpoint.

Cheers
