Title: Brake booster Post by: pedro on May 18, 2010, 05:54:19 PM Spent most of today stuffing around with the bracket and booster trying to get it far enough back to give me clearance, there's no way it's going to fit though, is there a slightly smaller booster that will do the same job that I can use ???

Title: Re: Brake booster Post by: EffCee on May 18, 2010, 06:22:31 PM Pedro,
There is another member on the forum that is running a Datsun 200B master cylinder and booster. From memory these are about 7" in diameter. These may be worth a look at. Alternatively use a bracket and booster that extends the booster away from the hinge. Datsum 200B booster must be 200 not 180B commodore master bolts straight to it old pal all the hot rodders use em and my FC runs it. Too easy (http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad278/fchoon/petes%20photos/Picture001.jpg) Title: Re: Brake booster Post by: FCV08 on May 18, 2010, 07:51:15 PM Pedro
I will watch your progress on this one as I was just starting to look at my options. I currently have a VN Booster but was looking at a VB-VH version as well. Looking at FCHoon's option as well as it fits in quite well. Would need to consider the capacity of the Dato as I am fitting a 304 Inj. Good Luck Craig Title: Re: Brake booster Post by: pedro on May 19, 2010, 06:50:45 AM Thanks for the input everbody, would the Datsun one have enough grunt for the Commodore brakes Pete, I'll check on the availability of them but I think the cheaper option at the moment is the hole saw ;)
Pedro Title: Re: Brake booster Post by: FCRB26 on May 19, 2010, 06:55:38 AM I run 4 wheel commodore brakes VN rear VL rotors and callipers
I have seen on this forum i think a white FC van running VE front brakes and Discs on the rear as well. They are double diaphram whatever that means but mine stops pretty good. Bigger is always better but isnt it?? Title: Re: Brake booster Post by: pedro on May 19, 2010, 07:03:32 AM Quote Bigger is always better but isnt it?? No worries Pete, for some reason I thought you were running HR brakes, with my budget though it's not so much "bigger is better" as "cheaper is better" ;) Pedro |
