I actually spoke to the seller, and he sounded really nice. I tried to haggle with him regarding the price when it was a Buy it now for 350 ::)..In hindsight, I should have snapped them up >:(...Oh, well :-\ I am still chasing a good set of front and rear though... Any takers?? Cheers. Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: Champ58FC on June 01, 2010, 10:31:40 AM Hi crashbox,
Please PM me if you would like to sell mate?? Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: ridgey_didge on June 01, 2010, 01:49:29 PM I've watched scratch plates go for big money many times, and then every time another set, or even a partial set comes onto Ebay, off they go again. I can't work out where the demand is coming from to keep prices so consistently high. Surely everyone with an FE or FC who is prepared to pay hundreds for scratch plates will be able to get a set and eventually the demand will dry up. There aren't that many cars and scratch plates aren't so very rare.
My thoughts anyway. Cheers David Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: fcee on June 01, 2010, 04:50:30 PM what a pity that Rare Spares did not continue with the development of repro scratch plates ,would have stopped the crazy prices being paid at the moment ,yes I want a set but am pinning my hopes on rare spares ! Steve . :)
Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: Champ58FC on June 02, 2010, 12:45:16 AM I actually rung rare spare last week and asked whether they are still producing them...answer was it never got off the ground ::)
Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: mcl1959 on June 02, 2010, 09:19:05 PM That's right - the supplier never could make a decent copy - Not good enough that I would approve anyway
Ken Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: crashbox on June 03, 2010, 09:55:51 PM well , tonite i just came from rares at auburn, bought sum door rubbers for me holden, and the good folk there told me that these scratch plates are now in production, and are expected shortly , even showed me their latest info sheet and yes the scratch plates are listed down to be repro'ed...
Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: Stewy on June 03, 2010, 10:40:42 PM I wonder if these might be more of the ones that Ken rejected ? Hope its not like the FC dash bezels. If they cant repo them to a reasonable standard they shouldnt bother. Just my opinion. Cheers Stewy. Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: fcee on June 04, 2010, 04:52:13 PM Hi ,even if I had do some fine tuning to them I would be happy , much better than 8oo bucks , cheers Steve . ;)
Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: mcl1959 on June 06, 2010, 10:51:37 PM The scratch plates are listed in the Rares catalogue as "in the pipeline". When a suitable prototype is produced I will approve them
Ken The prototypes that have been made so far could be worked to make them fit, but I believe the majority of buyers would be of the same opinion as Stewy rather than Steve. Sorry :P Ken Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: freddyc on June 07, 2010, 07:36:24 AM I bought a set 2 weeks ago of Ebay, the seller mistakenly advertised them in wrong area. I stumbled across them and got a really good set for $100. That now makes 2 sets but have 3 cars, decisions decisions.
regards fred Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: Champ58FC on June 07, 2010, 08:26:29 AM The four scratch plates that went for 800 plus had a buy it now of 350..!! I thought that was a bit steep :o, but then they went for a crazy 800+ lol ::)
In order to install the scratch plates, you have to take a part the door trims right guys??... Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: Stewy on June 07, 2010, 03:14:25 PM http://fefcholden.org.au/forum/index.php/topic,7290.msg35590.html#msg35590 ($2)You certainly do
Cheers Stewy Title: Re: Scratch plates? Post by: jasonr70002 on June 07, 2010, 04:01:08 PM Even if repro ones are close ish and just resemble the originals then people will still buy them until the manufacturers make them exact.
