average condition . i bet 9 times out of 10 that they`ll probably leak too. $200 sounds expensive. cheers Title: Re: FC SMITHS HEATER VALUE Post by: ChrisB on February 08, 2003, 09:21:32 AM Hi Slim,
Re smiths heater, $200 sounds dear, but if it is in excellent condition, core does not leak, ie pressure tested and the fan motor is quiet, $100 sounds better. If it included a proper tap for the block that worked and did not leak then a few more dollars. I have been chasing a good original tap for yonks and yet to find one. It is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. There was one listed on ebay by a gent up here in Gordon ACT, but due to his wording and a starting price of only $15 no one bid for it. I have seen the heater it looks OK but who knows without testing it, it also was missing the control panel. I scored a nasco bullet type heater yesterday (by fluke) from a local wrecker and paid $40.00, It's the type that has the control panel with the under bonnet ducting. I dont think he knew its value, I would have paid around $150.00 for it. hope this helps, Steve Title: Re: FC SMITHS HEATER VALUE Post by: nicko on February 10, 2003, 09:59:37 PM $200 is more than they cost new and as they are still fairly easy to find ,i would say $40 to $60 for average one and up to $120 for a mint one with good tap and control unit.
