Title: Economy??? Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on April 08, 2010, 08:33:48 AM Whilst I never intended for the motor in my car to set any economy records, I am interested in comparisons.
From a very rough calculation I worked out I was getting 19mpg on the highway with the FE, how does this compare to others? Title: Re: Economy??? Post by: Paul In Ireland on April 08, 2010, 11:09:02 AM I reckon on about 22mpg with both mine, give or take. Got as much as 24 and as little as 20 when I was doing the sums on them.

Title: Re: Economy??? Post by: HAD 708 on April 08, 2010, 12:47:07 PM Heh guys,
My thoughts re economy on FE FC is that on average they will when driven 55-65 miles an hour they will do around 26-28 mpg. I beleive it is a myth that FE FC will do 30mpg as FX-FJ did due to the reduced 13" rims and heavier bodies on the 56-59 models, and with the FB-EK it was worse again. Cheers Brett PS My Sock FC sedan on a trip regularly returned average 26-27mpg Title: Re: Economy??? Post by: colt on April 08, 2010, 04:41:06 PM My car with a modified grey did better than stockies and red motored cars at the one stop we all fuelled at. I took 20 litres at Cowra while the others took 22 and upwards.

My stock FC: On the trip Adelaide to Orange and then the various movements on Saturday and Sunday: Total distance: 820 miles (1,320km) - 26.0 m.p.g. (10.9 l/100km) Prior to the trip home, I checked the engine bay and found a couple of loose manifold studs & rear nut. The thing was sucking air. On the trip home, via Bathurst, West Wyalong & Renmark: Total distance: 850 miles (1,368km) - 27.8 m.p.g. (10.2 l/100km). On the open roads, speed was around the 60mph mark. I don't know my mpg figure I don't want to know :o I didn't keep really accurate mileage figures with all our sightseeing detours, + we were trucking along at 110km/h most of the time, + we were carrying 80+kg of exta weight with the brochures for the showbags. I just work on the theory it's going to cost a lot to cross the Nullabor and then I'm not suprised or upset when it does cost a lot ;D 8) 8) 8) Title: Re: Economy??? Did a check a few years ago when my stock FC before it needed a carby rebuild, averaged 22mpg sitting on 50mph on a 120km round trip. After the rebuild did the same trip at the same speed and averaged 33mpg. cheers frank Title: Re: Economy??? Post by: Martin on April 16, 2010, 12:22:40 AM A 2007 study found that the average Australian walks about 900 miles a year.
Another study found that the average Australian drinks 22 gallons of Wine a year. That means the average Australian gets about 41 miles per gallon. Bloody good mileage, that! |
