Title: Rear Wheel Arches Post by: KFH on February 19, 2010, 08:48:35 PM Today I dropped the rear end out of the car so I can complete the finishing of the under body. In the wheel arches I found that both of them were coated with a sound deadening type material and appears to have been there since manufacture as it was sprayed on top of the red oxide paint. Most of it was in excellent condition and no sign of rust anywhere. Was this the norm to have the rear wheel arches coated? I intend to give them a coat of POR15 then some body schutz.

If you are restoring the car to be totally authentic then this is the only place to put sound deadener. If you are building the car to be anything other than totally authentic then the placement of sound deadener is up to you.
