Title: Paint Codes
Post by: Johns on November 02, 2009, 11:52:42 AM
From time to time people put posts up looking for paint codes and as we know they generally don't exist for two pack paint. Mostly if you have some of the original colour a good painter will be able to analyse and mix it up. This is more of a problem if you don't have a sample.

FWIW the paint colours which don't have obviously Australian names such as India Ivory, Pinecrest green etc., were all used on early to mid 50s GM products. These do have codes and compositons and some links are posted here for your assistance

I suspect that a number of these colours were simply renamed here in Australia, although I have no evidence of this, but it seems logical at least for some of the earlier ones. For example there is a 1953 Chev colour called Madeira Maroon that looks a lot like Etna Maroon.

This is not intended to be comprehensive, but it might help.
