Title: ACT members Post by: smithy on January 23, 2003, 08:12:25 AM i would just like to extend my sympathy to any forum members in the ACT, their families and friends who suffered losses from the recent fires which tore through Canberra and districts this week. :'(
And to wish the best of luck for this week-end in front of the predicted harsh weather change we could face. i have so far escaped unscathed apart from dodging burnt debris falling from the sky. GOOD LUCK & STAY SAFE dean Title: Re: ACT members Post by: slim on January 23, 2003, 08:33:15 AM Well spoken, hope most came through unscathed! ;)

I had a small taste of what it is like to be stuck in such a situation. I got caught in the fires at Broadmarsh/Brighton in Tasmania on Tuesday & helped get some horses to saftey. At times I was really scared for my life, as there is NOTHING to compare with a firewall rushing across a paddock. But the ACT fires were SO MUCH more devastating, as we only lost one house down here, I can't imagine the bravery of those who stayed & fought the blaze. Best wishes to the ACT members, Rob J Title: Re: ACT members Post by: Hotlips on January 23, 2003, 10:48:39 PM :'( :'(I was so shocked at the news report that it brought tears to my eyes, the devastation, the loss of lives, the loss of livestock, the loss of property - it all seemed too much to bear for the Canberrians and for the Victorian Alp regions. The firemen/women are doing a fantastic job and are highly commended but our country is a harsh one and has dealt a heavy hand this summer. It is hard to believe that it is 20 years since we experienced the Ash Wednesday fires - and with weather forecast to be 41 for the next two days in SA - the terror of Canberra is making us here feel very nervous. My heartfelt sympathy to those in the Eastern states, GOOD LUCK and KEEP SAFE!!!!

We are all thinking of you all down there in Canberra and the other affected areas.
