Title: teal over breton blue paint match
Post by: Ed on October 22, 2009, 10:35:32 AM
Hello,

I'm after a good original match for teal blue over breton blue. (dark over light blue).

the colour sample I've got was re-sprayed with a poor match and is now faded out so I'm afraid to get it matched using an incorrect colour.

Do paint shops still have the formulas?

Cheers

Ed

Ed, I had no trouble getting Teal Blue made up, apparently aside from being a Holden colour it is or was also a "fleet colour"

Not sure about the other 1

Thanks Gary,

sounds like most of the colours should be on file then.

easy enough, will just visit the paint shop with the codes.

Cheers

Hey Ed,

drop these guys an email: info@vgautopaints.com.au ---- http://www.vgautopaints.com.au/

I recently enquired via email about early holden paint codes. They were pretty quick in responding, and said that they had the codes that I was looking for, no dramas.

Cheers,
JD.

thanks JD,

You read my mind. I used VG 2K on the ute and was happy with it.

Cheers

I normally paint all my stuff in PPG.. bit more $$ but very nice to use.

Tried Concept 2K on the ute and was pleasantly surprised, but because I mixed paint systems found hold out wasn't brilliant. Still it was done to a price.

I'll go back to PPG, I know it and like it.  Used to use the Dulon Acrylic and that was awesome, so hoping it's still the same.

Cheers

Ed

Gday Ed,

I had a bit of downtime at work today .... so took some time out to some research on Acrylic prices:

---------------------------------------------------------

"Concept"
4L Colour = $137
8L Colour = $257

4L Clear = $50
20L Thinner (Prem.) = $90

---------------------------------------------------------

"PPG / DULON" (group 1 paints)
4L Colour = $212 +GST
6L Colour = $318 +GST

4L Clear = $90 +GST
20L Thinner (Prem.) = $140 +GST

---------------------------------------------------------

might be able to get them cheaper at Trade prices ... ???

JD.

Hi Ed , We have an FE station sedan in teal over breton blue.Roof is still original but body has been resprayed at a later stage, but inside firewall is still original with "teal" and "breton" painted on. We will be restoring to original next year so any formulas posted would be handy thanks Jeff.
