Title: Re: Hobbo's FE Sedan Post by: collecta on October 22, 2009, 10:29:37 PM Did you purchase the car from Pat by any chance?
cheers Scott Title: Re: Hobbo's FE Sedan Post by: Hobbo on October 22, 2009, 11:32:03 PM Yes I bought it from Pat, I think myself lucky that he let it go. I had my eye on it for awhile and jumped at it when he decided to sell. He bought a few good parts and pulled it apart and put it back together again which makes things a bit easier to work on. But as you guys know it ALOT of WORK and Cash to get it back to GOOD Looking and Driving Condition. I was wrapped to be able to start it and drive it onto the car trailer and rego the next day!
Title: Re: Hobbo's FE Sedan Post by: Hobbo on November 09, 2009, 08:19:57 AM Hi Dudes, just a quick update on the progress on my FE Sedan. I have fitted the 173 Red and new H/D clutch to the Grey gearbox. EH H/D wide radiator is fitted as is the EH complete diff ass. HR Disc Brake front end is fitted and I have use the complete brake line setup from the EH donor car where f/end came from. Body work is progressing as fast as possible with rear quarters, rear panel, and RHF guard all stripped and repaired. I am trying to get the Fe back on the road asap to allow the painter to get on with his project.... an EH sedan. I will be stripping the doors and boot lid at a later date. Hope to post pix soon, Hobbo.

Title: Re: Hobbo's FE Sedan Post by: Hobbo on November 15, 2009, 05:17:23 PM We are using a 7" Grinder with 16, 36 and 80 grit discs? The paint comes off pretty easy but the red oxide and RUST is like diamonds ! The trick is to keep moving to reduce overheating the panel. Needless to say I have to use HI Build undercoat !
Title: Re: Hobbo's FE Sedan Post by: HAMFIST on November 15, 2009, 07:01:12 PM sounds abit rough on the steel iam using strip discs for the angle grinder takes all paint and rust of and doesnt leave any marks in the steel the discs are made of plastic and can be bought from most places i swear by them and i only have to use regular etch primer to cover it
Title: Re: Hobbo's FE Sedan Post by: GM on November 15, 2009, 07:27:17 PM Yeah I used a 8" grinder to strip my ute (when I owned it) with 40 grit discs. Worked a treat. Careful when you get to the lead.
Cheers Glenn Title: Re: Hobbo's FE Sedan Post by: TTV6FC on November 15, 2009, 09:34:34 PM I have found either works well but sanding discs are a lot more harsh and you have to be very carefull.Strip discs are great but can easily over heat and distort the panel if you are not carefull.Cheers,Jamie.
