Title: FE to FC colour scheme?
Post by: Hobbo on October 20, 2009, 10:05:24 AM
Hi dudes, my wife wants me to change the colour scheme of our FE which is Anvil Grey over Castle Grey to the FC Two Tone Scheme of  something like Red front and Roof with White rear? The Question is, what do you guys think? Is it OK or do you think it is stupid? I too would like to change the colour scheme and know it is a fair bit of extra cost for mouldings, grille, indicators etc. which is not a problem and the extra cost and work in the painting prep which is OK too. Has anyone done this before? Thanks Hobbo and Wife.

In my humble opinion Hobbo, anything FE (even the paint colours) are far superior to anything FC. So I guess that's one vote for maintaining the status quo ;D

Hobbo, will the car be stock or modified/custom? If 'stock', then there may be a good argument for keeping it exactly that - stock.. (including its original colours)
Otherwise, go for it; it's your car, your call!
Personally, I prefer the FC side mouldings and colour schemes (any original colours or whatever you want)
However, IMHO the FE grille and indicators look far better than the FC equivalents...
So if it's to be a 'modified' or 'custom' car, how about a hybrid FE/FC?
Keep in mind that what others think is really of no consequence - you should possibly be only concerned about keeping two people happy; you and Mrs Hobbo!
Good luck which ever way you go, and please keep us informed  :)

cheers, jack

Hi Hobbo

While I am, and always will be an FE die hard, I "approve" of Jack's suggestion of an FE front with with FC side mouldings and colour scheme.  :D

And Jack is right - what others think should not be of any concern to you and your wife!  As long as you guys are happy with your decision that is all that matters!.   :)

Hey thats great news ! I didn't think of keeping the FE front but now you guys have said it, thats the way I'll go. We have welded the repair panel to the bottom of the RHF guard and in the process of stripping the paint off the Bonnet, LHF guard and Boot Lid. I have Disc brake HR Front End to go in this week and a 173 red to go with the grey box. I'll post some pictures when I work out how. Thanks again MR and MRS Hobby.
