Title: electric wipers Post by: surferboy on October 15, 2009, 04:27:48 PM I have one of these sitting in the shed
(http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/surferboyandcathy/1-1.jpg) (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/surferboyandcathy/1a.jpg) I'm guessing it's an EK wiper motor (delco type) with some bits missing Cathys ''ugly duckling'' has this arrangement. dashboard switch turns to switch on/off with a single speed (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/surferboyandcathy/wm1.jpg) (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/surferboyandcathy/wm2.jpg) I'm guessing the three bits are whats missing, an arm thing and two joiny things are these hens teeth items or easily available or can any competent mechanic make something up? My wagon has this arrangement (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/surferboyandcathy/wm3.jpg) (http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/surferboyandcathy/wm4.jpg) the switch has a small button you push in to switch on and push again to switch off set in the FC switch they never worked well before, but they havent worked since i gaffa taped the wipers to the windscreen then turned them on when crossing the nullabor It would be nice to get it sorted before cruising to Orange will the switch arrangement need to be changed or can an auto sparky figure which wires go where to make it all work ? 8) 8) 8) PS I owe (still)Damien for the motor. What are they worth ? Title: Re: electric wipers Post by: mcl1959 on October 15, 2009, 08:17:20 PM The arm thingy has the 2 join things attached so it is all one compact piece that you need. Yes it can be made by a competent turner & fitter but they would probably need one to copy.
They are a bit scarce by themselves - generally they come with the wiper motor. I would consider that an EK motor without the drive arm is not worth more than $30, but that's just my opinion. Ken Title: Re: electric wipers Post by: surferboy on October 16, 2009, 12:42:21 AM Thanks Ken
I can give Damien some money now His brother likes to tinker with engineering things so if i cant source the missing link we can get him to make up something hopefully Also... what other bits (seals/gaskets,nuts/bolts etc) will i need to get before i start ripping everything apart (i will need to remove my stereo to get access to interior linkages easily) and i have a really BAD habit of not putting things back together Does anyone have step by step instructions (with pictures) ?
