Not sure which one you're watching but google Packard (open to correction) - I think they had swan ornaments and there should be loads of them come up on ebay in the States. Title: Re: Swan emblem Post by: Johns on September 21, 2009, 11:34:41 AM Paul, the Packard ornament is actually a Cormorant, not a Swan. That ormanent looks to be the same as this one;
http://www.truckcustomizers.com/products/swan-hood-ornament.html Jason, you can a brand new one for US$40. regards John Title: Re: Swan emblem Post by: Glenn 'Stinky' Stankevicius on September 21, 2009, 12:05:16 PM Places like Hy-Way Truck Accessories ($2) have heaps of trinkets like this, skull numberplate bolts, bolt on stars and naked ladies, chrome push-on nut caps, hood ornaments ($2) etc, etc.
Title: Re: Swan emblem Post by: freddyc on September 21, 2009, 01:39:35 PM jason seen 2 of these at the charters towers swap meet in June, they only wanted $10 each, new I should have bought them.
regards fred Title: Re: Swan emblem Post by: JB on September 21, 2009, 03:59:44 PM Thanks for the info guys... Thats why the questions, will look at the ones from the states and bypass ebay.
Thanks again. Jason. Title: Re: Swan emblem Post by: ziggy on September 23, 2009, 02:59:03 PM I got my Swan at an antique shop. They make them new and I see alot of trucks here in the US with them. They can also have colored plastic wings. I suggest mounting them with brass bolts that will shear if in an impact (ie kids head) - I have had a pink slip tell me to remove it, but most mechanics recognize that the grill will probably do (much) more damage. Teher are three pieces - two wings and the body.

Dean. Title: Re: Swan emblem Post by: Sheriff on September 27, 2009, 09:28:30 AM Janette, they did not come as an option on any vehicle. They were an after-market accessory. Any hoon from the day worth his salt would have one on their car, along with tar babies, fringe around back window, forklifts, nodding dog, coloured paper in interior light, flappers, spinners on hubcaps, etc. My car in my avatar had one. ;D Mike.
Title: Re: Swan emblem Post by: lucky_gwen on September 27, 2009, 01:24:40 PM Thanks Mike for the info. Really appreciate it.
There is one on ebay at the moment at $131 with 3 days to go. So there must be people out there who still want them. Regards Janette |
