Has anyone used the lower rear ¼ rust repair section supplied by Randy at Randy’s Customs? I’m looking at buying one, but I'm not sure if there are any other suppliers (RS don't seem to have any and Google doesn't show anyone else). These ones cost $99.00 a piece. I received the rust repair section the other day and it's the wrong section of the panel. I received the front part of the 1/4 panel including part of the wheel arch, but I was expecting the rear part where water often pools (in the boot below the tail light). I'll call them and see if they produce a section for this. The rust is only the size of a 50 cent peice and I'm wondering if anyone has had experience fabricating this small section of the panel with any success? funny... I just did one of these yesterday. cut out a patch slightly bigger than the rust hole (dependent on condition of metal) using a body hammer over a couple of layers of carpet, create the correct contour, lay it over the existing panel to check shape. trace it onto the body, cut, weld, grind, fill.. presto! final pic missing below.. camera ran out of batteries during upload. of course you wouldn't do a section this big judging by your description. did you shape your section with the rubber mallet? I used a body hammer over carpet and gathered the metal, still need to file back and finish. doing the other side tomorrow. Cheers Ed |
