Title: Brake shoes Post by: dnb on August 23, 2009, 07:56:39 PM I have a pair of exchange FC brake shoes here that were rebonded some trime ago and never used. Reading the fine print on the packinging there is a warning that they contain Absestos. Question is what to do with them? Are they still able to be used or, if not, can the linings be removed and the shoes rebonded. I don't need them at present, just found them among a pile of other bits I've saved over the years.

You would have no problems getting them re done through a reputable brake place. The last set I had done I was told that the shoes are just about impossible to get now, so even if you don't get them re done, hang on to them. Gary Title: Re: Brake shoes Post by: mcl1959 on August 24, 2009, 06:50:28 PM The glue should be OK - There is no real problem to use - they were banned really because the people that made them and serviced them were exposed CONSTANTLY to dust from them. The occasional service by you will not be very harmful although you should avoid breathing in the dust when cleaning the brakes out.
