Title: Joining a club
Post by: pedro on August 08, 2009, 08:27:42 AM
G'day all, just wondering if someone could steer me in the right direction as far as joining a club goes, I've been messaging the QLD. club for the past two weeks asking for a membership form but have recieved no reply, unfortunately the QLD. part of the club contact details is also missing from the post above, I hadn't joined earlier as i was under the impression you had to be able to attend meetings and compulsory events like i had with bike clubs.

Give  Ron Cook – 3351 2736 a call and he will sort it out for you.

You know how sometimes things take longer than you think and other times they just don't want to know you.....

Maybe this is one of the other times??  ;)

On the other hand, clubs are run by volunteers, usually only meet monthly and try to minimise postage costs.  If a magazine is due out, my club would hold off sending a separate piece of mail with a receipt and then send the receipt with the magazine.  Sometimes human error means a new name isn't immediately added to the mailing list and that can cause a delay.  Sometimes the volunteer involved is just flat out with other things and takes a little longer than would be ideal.

An email to the appropriate committee member is the best way to go if there is any doubt about whether your membership application has been received.

Cheers
David

And maybe they just don't want rum-guzzling rubber pants-clad kinky bikies in their club...  ::)

But that's alright, Pedro; we still love ya  ;) (well, until your 15 minutes are up anyhow)  ;D

Now why am i not suprised it's you putting the other boot in Jack :o, I can see I'm never going hear the end of that rubber pants joke ::)(and to everyone else reading this no i don't have incontinence) :D, I'm definately going to have to make it to Orange now just so i can drag you off and then drink all your rum :P :P ;D ;D.

Thanks Greg, I was going to wait a bit longer and then give Ron a ring just to make sure they got it, Stinky sent me a pm saying it can take up to six weeks depending on when the application was sent in so i guess I'll just have to learn to be a bit more patient :-X.

Pedro, I'm a responsible Senior Citizen with far too much respect for the law to be tempted (even by a bottle of Queensland diesel!) to indulge in illegal drag-racing.
However, I'll be more than happy to share my bottle with you just so long as you get to Orange (being a fisherman I'll have a drink with almost anyone!)

I seem to recall a certain respectable senior citizen involved in some extra curricular protest activities against a certain council a little while ago ;D ;D, guess I'll just have to settle with having a sipper with you then ;).

Interstate (and international) members are always welcome at the Vic club. No requirement to attend any events and you will always receive fast attention to any problems you are having - our newsletters are emailed to members and the membership form is downloadable from our website.

Thanks for the advice guys, haven't had time to reply been up to my elbows in bog and sandpaper, the reason I'd prefer to join the Brisbane club is that once the real estate market picks up we're still planning on moving back to the Gold coast area, then I'll be able to go to meetings and get involved in the club.

This is getting ridiculous, now seven weeks, no membership and no contact to let me know what's happening, this website is run by the FE/FC clubs and they would obviously be aware of what was going on as well as just40 said he had contacted someone and was going to bring it up at the meeting, the Qld. club certainly don't bother to put out the welcome mat for new members.

Pedro,

There are only a couple of guys from the QLD that are computer literate, so not many get on here.

The best way is to go to a meeting... Not that I have ever been able to being from Cairns. The club runs and days organised look like a great event, so don't get too disappointed yet. Send Bruce Webster an email and ask to be put on the newsletter list that he sends out each month. That will get you started.

Cheers

The Qld club should now give you access to the club members only parts of the forum.

G'day Fred welcome to the site, actually they didn't say anything about you, just asked if my name was Fred when there was some confusion with my membership.

Thanks RET.

Glad all is sorted out, but as jason said most of the club committee do not visit the forums and were unaware of the problems.
predo and fred we have only 2 club runs to go for this year, mulgowie and south brisbane cliffs, so come along and meet the club.
