Title: Spacers for front end refurb
Post by: Not Happy Jan on July 29, 2009, 11:44:34 AM
Hi All
The manual says to use spacers when reinstalling the upper and lower pins on the king pin holder.
Are these available..... or is there a knack for installing ???

The spacers aren't really necessary for putting a used front end together. Just centralise the stub axle when tightening the bolt and this will be right. The spacer is only necessary when installing new wishbones without the thread in them.
You will need to have an alignment done though after you install the kingpins.

Great thanks Ken
I was just going to replace the pivot pins upper and lower and the bushes on the inners.
At this stage I was going to leave the drag link assembly and the king pins.???? Change the idler arm. New wheel cylinders and pads. New shocks ( which do you recommend??) New Tie Rods ( any luck with the search??). I bought a parts manual. They are good!!!
Once I've done that and paint it all up I just need to fix the wiring issue with the brake lights, install windscreen and it should pass a full rego check.
How hard is it to get it tuned properly. Timing mainly?? At the moment it runs well but a bit rough. I actually have only driven it about 300 metres but it kicks and idles pretty well.
