Title: Electric Wipers - Single speed or 2 speed.
Post by: stapla on July 25, 2009, 02:37:58 PM
I have a Delco electric wiper motor (assume EK) and not sure if its single or 2 speed ?  I have terminals for 2 wires as well as the copper earth strap thingo.

Any ideas on how to identify the differences between single and 2 speed ?

Sure sounds like a single-speed unit to me: 1 terminal is the power, the other is the park, and the strap earths it.

The Nasco two-speed unit bolts up to the vacuum unit plate, and is controlled via a cable from the dash - the switch controls are part of the wiper unit itself. It's a pretty crazy looking thing, you'd know if you had one.

cheers

My earth strap has broken off. Is it fixable??

I assume you must have the Delco unit with riveted on earth strap.  Try putting the strap between the motor body and base (make sure the strap is earthed well). This should work.
