Title: Identifying trimatic and powerglide Post by: tmudie on January 13, 2003, 09:44:58 AM Hi All,
Does anybody have pics of a trimatic and powerglide transmission? I dont know how to tell them apart, they look pretty similar on the outside. I though the trimatic had the linkages on the driver side and the powerglide had them on the passenger side? Thanks Tony Title: Re: Identifying trimatic and powerglide Post by: Effie C on January 13, 2003, 10:15:15 AM G'Day Tony
Sorry no pictures but trimatic is available with linkages on both sides, depending on model car it comes out of. If anyone has a tech manual with trimatic in it I'd be interested in buying. Thanks Tony tmudie@bigpond.net.au Title: Re: Identifying trimatic and powerglide Post by: Effie C on January 13, 2003, 10:59:22 AM G'Day Tony
Take a look at www.raceglides.com.au This site has pictures of both trimatic and powerglides as well as others. By the way I found this site on a search engine called www.google.com.au all you do is put what you are looking for and it finds all the sites / pages with it on it. Good Luck John M Title: Re: Identifying trimatic and powerglide Post by: ACE on January 13, 2003, 10:59:46 AM ;)Hi Tony
The trimatic transmission has the vacuum modulator and the speedo cable on the r.h side. The powerglide has them on the left, and " powerglide" is cast into the main housing. Hope this helps. Hunted through the garage last night and pulled out the HX manual. I'll scan the pages and send them to you. Al Title: Re: Identifying trimatic and powerglide Post by: brads59 on January 22, 2003, 10:01:05 AM Tony,
This may sound stupid ::). But have you got the selecter bolted to the side. If so, why not shift it and count how many gears it has. Cheers Brad |
