Title: Oil Filler Cap Gasket
Post by: Martin on July 13, 2009, 11:19:59 AM
Can someone give me a lead, please:  Where can I get an oil filler cap gasket?

If they aren't available commercially, what's the best material to make one out of - rubber? cork?  What thickness?

It seems there must be an art to removing/replacing them as they don't appear to fit over the locking tabs.

This must surely have been covered before, but a search doesn't reveal anything, so any info will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Martin

I purchased one from Rares sometime ago.

Martin, get a new one from Rares, I think they are rubber impregnated cork & they are usually supple enough to wangle over the oil cap lock tabs

Thanks John & Gary.

Your'e probably thinking, "Why didn't the goose try Rares first?"  Well I did, and the mob here in Adelaide told me there wasn't one.  I'll give the Melbourne crowd a call tomorrow.

Thanks again.
