Simple question which has taken me about 12 years work to find out. :P

Based on an exhaustive amount of data collection and computer work, the conclusion I have come up with is 89,869 plus or minus maybe 100 or so.

Probably, but not in a statistically significant way I would imagine.

Put it this way, 155,161 FEs made, 181,624 FCs. So 17% more FCs.

However, of the 22 months of FE production, there were 8 months where only sedans were manufactured. (Utes and vans were introduced from Feb '57, FJ utes/vans were still produced between July 56 and Feb 57). So you could argue that FE Sedans are likely to be a bigger slice of the total FE production pie than FC sedans are of the FC pie, all other things being equal. So it comes down to the size of the slice vs the size of the pie. (Have you had lunch yet? Can you tell I haven't? ;D)

Ken probably does have a more definitive answer, but it makes for good benchracing.

Ken does have an answer and RET is right on the money, there were only 89,590 FC special sedans made. But there are way more FC 225's left on the road now than FE's

hi i have one of each model but can only keep one would you leave it standard or i have a 179 4 speed i do i put that engine in thank you rod

Rod, who are you building the car for? Is it for yourself or to sell?
If it's for yourself then you need to build the car to suit your requirements.
ie everyday driver, weekend car, show winner, 1/4 mile racer, etc

Only you can decide what you need the car for.

If its to sell and you want to know resale value, then leave it stock, the money you spend on the engine change and subsequent engineering requirements wont be gotten back on resale.
