Title: HR front ends Post by: jasonr70002 on June 22, 2009, 06:44:45 PM What difference if any aside from the stub axles is there between a hr disc and drum front end.
cheers Jason Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: 2door350 on June 22, 2009, 07:12:49 PM nothing...you can use either i'm pretty sure
Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: mcl1959 on June 22, 2009, 08:49:46 PM No difference whatsoever - the drum front end even has the cut outs in the tower for the calipers
Ken Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: jasonr70002 on June 23, 2009, 11:04:33 AM Thanks guys and can I assume that Torana or HQ stubs will bolt straight on as well.
Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: FC427 on June 23, 2009, 11:54:15 AM They will... Torana have a few more degree in the stub than HQ -WB but a lot run them so wheel alignment should be OK ........FC427......
Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: waynos on June 23, 2009, 09:06:19 PM ive been worried i could be runnin torry stubs,as my car handles like a tractor.
how much does the castor angle difference matter, you reckon? Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: mcl1959 on June 23, 2009, 10:54:17 PM It's camber angle that is different. Most noticeable during cornering as tyre contact on the road is not right. It's not hard to get HQ stubs - and they lower the car another 5/8ths of an inch.
Ken Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: jasonr70002 on July 02, 2009, 12:59:38 PM Can I get rotors for the hq set up to still run early stud pattern or do i need torrie calipers etc.
Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: mcl1959 on July 02, 2009, 02:45:49 PM Hoppers Stoppers will sell you new HQ rotors that have been drilled in early stud pattern. Not cheap though.
Ken Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: jasonr70002 on July 02, 2009, 03:41:01 PM Ken how does that go for wheel selection and clearance can I still use 13's
Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: mcl1959 on July 02, 2009, 06:31:19 PM No you will need to change to 14 inch rims. Basically with 13 inch rims you have the choice of HR discs or Torana discs. So if you use the Torana stub axles you just have to get the best alignment you can and see how it performs.
I have spoken in the past about lowering the mounting point of the HR upper wishbone. This does compensate and improve handling as well. Ken Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: jasonr70002 on July 03, 2009, 06:55:51 AM Ken, What about HK, T, G stubs and brakes as I have this option available to me are they a better option being the same stud pattern etc and then I can at least have the same whels on the car being 14"s all round.
Jason Title: Re: HR front ends Post by: mcl1959 on July 03, 2009, 07:22:34 PM HKTG stubs are the same as HQ stubs, so you can run brakes from HK to HZ all on the same stub axle
