Title: 1/4 VENT RIVET Post by: Not Happy Jan on June 11, 2009, 01:54:54 PM Howdy All
I was after some advice/clarification? I have just re-furbed my 1/4 vent and I bought a rivet set from Rare Spares. Problem is is that the rivet does not fit nicely in either the stabilized hole on the frame of the 1/4 vent nor into the smaller diameter hole on the window pane arm. Do you have to drill these holes out to fit the rivet or is there some knack to installing the rivet and secondly, how does one crimp the rivet then once it fits nicely? Thanks in advance! Nick. A little file may be a better option if your not too confident with a drill. Once all is in place you need to sit the head of the rivet down on something solid and open the other side up. I rounded off a centre punch you dont need to hit it very hard. you can always give it another tap if you want to open it up a little more. Having another set of hands makes life alot easier for this part of the job
Hope this helps Frank Title: Re: 1/4 VENT RIVET Post by: mcl1959 on June 13, 2009, 02:31:53 PM I use a ball bearing and a G clamp - no hitting needed

We are going to compare my old kit(maybe 3-4yrs) to what they have at Betta Cheers Jemahl |
