Title: Fitting Whiteline swaybar
Post by: perth_fe_ute on June 06, 2009, 10:28:34 PM
Hello All,

What sway bars should I fit... I have a feeling I have ordered (HR) the wrong ones.

I have HR front cross member and discs and rear hr diff with drums on a fe ute.

Advise? Front is 22mm and rear is 18mm.

EK is the best fit on the front. It doesn't have the dip in the centre which interferes with the outrigger

There are two kits for the front. They are FB-EH which includes EK.

What about the back? Can I use the HR or do I also need the same.

If it has a dip in the centre of the bar it is HD HR and if it doesn't then it is FB EK.  It's important to not have the dip in the centre.

When fitting a rear bar - you have to custom fit it. There was no rear sway bar in an FE FC so you have to make all the mount positions to suit. Best thing to do is to measure the centre distance between the chassis rails and give this dimension to the supplier so they can choose an appropriate bar.

cheers, had a look and there is already one there. I am still going to get the new 18mm bar so will check distance between the rails.

update on the progress... having fun fitting the rear sway bar. I have just tried fitting the whiteline BR4 and guess what does not fit to the body of a fe ute. have taken a couple of photos and will post shortly. Now back to the ordering table for another type. Have purchased the FC-EK 22mm on the front and is huge in comparison but the links are shot and now ordering some new ones also but looks like it is going to fit.
