Title: Ignition Switch - Accessories
Post by: Rod on May 19, 2009, 12:32:27 PM
In following up a previous post on electronic ignition I would like to ask a question to the knowledgable people out their about the ignition switch. An electronic module I am looking at can heat up along with the coil if the motor isn't running causing damage to those parts. As you know from time to time we test / use our accessories without the motor running. Is there another switch that can be fitted to the ignition (possibly a latter model) which has a true accessories position? The switches we have do have an accessory post but my understanding that this is not a true accessory function as we have come to expect- power still goes to the coil. Are there any other solutions. The best bet I suppose would be to run the radio, heater and other accessories off the live power at the back of the light switch. Would just need to remember to switch them off when turning the car off. Anyone got any thoughts.

Cheers Again

Rod
