Title: FC fins on a wagon
Post by: Johns on April 24, 2009, 02:36:18 PM
Hi all.

Has anybody test fitted a set of FC fins on a wagon? Clearly they don't fit or I'd have seen one with them. I'm wondering how different the mounting profile is or are they too long? (If I had a set I'd try myself :P)

Cheers
John

I've got a set you can try - for what reason I don't know.  :-\ :-\

Are the drugs wearing off again?

They don't fit by a long way John.
Tried them to see if they could fit a number of times.

Thanks Ken, I thought as much.

Craig, with the extreme speeds Thelma is soon to be capable of my thought was that the fins should assist high speed stability. I did look at grafting a retractable Porsche spoiler into the roof, but that would have meant cutting the original hoodlining.......

Have you considered the poor man's option of just hooning around with the top tailgate open? ;D

definitely the more cost effective option and all he'd need is a cheap face mask for all the fumes that get sucked back in  :D

No need for a face mask just take out the front screen more aerodynamic and variable a/c [faster you go]  ;D

just take out the front screen

Again though, not real good for the headlining ;D

They will fit, with a bit of grinding, as the profile of the upper quarter panel is different between a wagon/van/ute and a sedan.

One thing to be wary of, one of the mounting bolts sits right over a panel seam.

Paul Roberts FC Station Sedan (Yellow, SA Club) has the sedan fins installed.

I always liked the idea of putting FB rear guards on an FC, not too sure how it would go though!
Anyone ever seen it done, or anyone good enough with photo shop to throw one together?

one of the WA Club from Mandurah has a pale green delivery van with EK fins, may be some pics on the site here somewhere... if that helps.
