Title: 2000kms and finally have the Family 1 owner FC home.
Post by: stapla on April 14, 2009, 08:49:14 PM
Hi All,

I was able to organise a car trailer over the weekend and safely drove the 2000km round trip from adelaide to wagga and return.

Now the restoration starts on the 1959 FC that my granddad has had from new.  The car is complete and has been in a shed for last 30 years.  The old boy's health isn't flash after a few trips to hospital, so I'm hoping to get it finished this year while he's still around.

The sedan looks to need new floor panels, and some other smaller rust repairs.

Now looking for a reputable body shop to do the rust repairs and paint work.

Have contacted a few places including Cameron @ Muller Rd Crash, Crispin and Finch.  Hopefully I'll get an idea on how much and how long to do the body.  Happy to accept any other suggestions on what shops around adelaide might be able to help.

Photos to come soon.
Cheers
Peter.

Good to hear your trip was successful and safe Peter.

I wish you the best with getting the car completed asap but take heart that if your grandad knows someone is looking after it now he will be happy.

In relation to body/paint shops, FYI - the guy working at Crispin's now (Steve) is a good friend who metal finished my car 20 years ago and also used to work at Finch's.  From recent conversations with Steve & Dave they are working on another FE/FC at the moment.

Best of luck with it all.
