Title: Kurri Kurri
Post by: customFC on March 29, 2009, 09:27:07 PM
Members of the NSW club headed up to Kurri Kurri for the annual Rock n Roll festival.
I didn't go, but I did find a few pics on this world wide thingy...

Hopefully someone who went will be able to add to these.

I was lucky enough to see Graham and Wayne cruising down the F3 on the way home, as I was headed home after a day dirt biking.

Wayne, your car was certainly moving along nicely up that hill!

Cheers

Hi All
For those who missed out on the weekend you all missed a FANTASTIC weekend. We were lucky enough on the Saturday night to be able to go to a private  Drive in  which a person has set up on his property. He has the original projectors and the old speakers all set up. What a night  showing the old commercials and also putting on  an old Mickey Mouse Cartoon we watched Hard Days Night He also has an cinema set up in the house done in all the old style layout. The Sunday was also great with around 500vehicles on display with  4 different bands playing around the area and plenty of other entertainment   This is defiantly something that will have to be done again. All who went had a great weekend will bring some photos to next meeting.
Looking to see if we can arrange to do the Drive In one night well worth it. This is the only private Drive In  in Australia

I just heard that the host club has had a dispute with the council and is now pulling out of staging it anymore. I believe the council wanted a big slice of the pie and their event director had no appreciation of what the event meant to the region ...so Californian Cruisin, the host club, is moving it to The Entrance in the 3rd weekend in October. It will be called Chromefest. The move to The Entrance is not without it's problems, space being the biggest, but as it's set up more for the tourists and there is much more accommodation available, it has hope. It would seem the Kurri Kurri council is going to attempt to stage the run on it's own...

That's a pretty disappointing story Alex and it must be desparately so for the host club. Particularly when Councils these days only seem capable of losing vast amounts of money in shonky financial transactions like CDOs, fast tracking DAs for developers who contribute to their election campaigns, failing to fix craters in their roads and giving parking tickets to anything that stops long enough to stick one on >:(
